MONOPOLY Bingo! – Lobby Redesign
MONOPOLY Bingo! is a free-to-play online bingo game that combines classic MONOPOLY mechanics with bingo gameplay. Players can collect rewards through multiple bingo cards, tournaments, advent calendars, and various live events.
Why Redesign
In the original lobby, key features such as Classic Bingo, Special Bingo, and Tournaments were presented as large primary buttons. As new features were added—such as “Featured Rooms” and multiple concurrent events (e.g., Super Tournament, World Events, Puzzle)—the interface became increasingly cluttered.
To quickly accommodate these additions, event icons were placed in a scrollable tray. However, this led to several issues:
•  Visual clutter and overloaded eye tracking
•  Overlapping or obstructing primary buttons
•  Inconsistent icon layouts and clipping
•  Performance drops due to excessive UI elements
The goal of the redesign was to improve hierarchy, reduce visual noise, and streamline navigation.
Step 1: Optimizing Primary Actions
I resized and realigned the main buttons to maximize available space and improve visual balance. The most important features were centered and emphasized, allowing users to quickly identify and access core gameplay options.
Step 2: Event Selector Redesign
After multiple concept explorations, I introduced a new event selector that displays up to four key event icons at a time. To strengthen visual hierarchy:
•  I reorganized the top and bottom HUD elements
•  Moved “Watch to Earn,” bundle sales, and scratch features into a consistent utility area
•  Repositioned the achievement feature as a standard navigation element instead of a dominant button
This approach reduced clutter while maintaining discoverability.
Step 3: UI/UX Consistency
Entering any main feature leads users to room selection screens, which previously had inconsistent layouts. To address this, I designed a collapsible UI pattern with an expand/collapse arrow, allowing the interface to scale from one to four visible icons. Pagination was introduced to support additional content while maintaining clarity and flexibility.
User Flow
User Research & Testing
Before finalizing the redesign, I conducted research based on A/B testing and user behavior data:
1. Button Value Tracking
We analyzed engagement metrics for each UI element. Lower-performing features, such as the social button, were relocated into secondary menus (e.g., profile dialog) to declutter the main interface while still preserving functionality.
2. Interaction Efficiency
We tested a concept that consolidated events into a single entry point with a dialog list. However, user testing showed decreased engagement due to the additional interaction step. As a result, we prioritized direct access to key events from the main lobby.
Takeaways & Results
This project reinforced the importance of clarity, hierarchy, and efficiency in UI design. A successful interface should allow users to quickly understand and achieve their goals with minimal friction.
For a visually rich game like MONOPOLY Bingo!, reducing noise and emphasizing high-priority actions is critical to maintaining engagement.
Following the redesign, we achieved an 8% increase in retention, demonstrating a meaningful and measurable improvement in user experience.
